We’re delighted to introduce Stephen Brett, Vertech’s new Core Contracts and Offshore Services Manager (WA/NT). Stephen brings extensive experience across offshore Oil & Gas operations, rope access, and integrity services, along with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and team leadership.
We asked Stephen a few questions to help you get to know him better.
Tell us about your professional background and experience
I began my career as an Electrician, gaining a strong foundation in construction and maintenance across multiple industrial sectors. I then transitioned into the Oil & Gas industry, where I developed expertise in rope access, compliance inspections, and non-destructive testing (NDT). With a strong focus on offshore assets, I progressed from field-based technical roles into Project Management, Operations Management, and ultimately Senior Leadership positions, including General Manager. My career has been built on delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes in complex and high-risk environments.
What does your new role entail?
I am responsible for the performance and delivery of Rope Access Inspection, Repair, and Maintenance (IRM) services across a diverse portfolio of contract and project work throughout WA and NT.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Progressing from a trade-background and site based roles into senior leadership positions within the offshore Oil & Gas sector, while consistently building high-performing teams and maintaining a strong focus on safety, operational excellence, and client outcomes.
What are you looking forward to in your new role?
I’m looking forward to getting to know the team, strengthening client relationships, and driving innovation in how we deliver safe and efficient offshore IRM services.
Tell us something about yourself
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, travelling, and taking on DIY projects.
Anything else you’d like to add?
I have extensive experience delivering rope access–based IRM solutions on offshore assets. More recently, I’ve developed a strong interest in the implementation of digital and robotic technologies to reduce risk in high-hazard activities (such as working at height and confined spaces), while improving data quality, automation, and decision-making.
Vertech welcomes Stephen to the team and looks forward to the leadership and industry insight he brings to this role.
