Vertech was recently engaged to carry out a UT thickness survey of pipelines within a client’s sulphuric acid plant.
When working within the plant, our team were required to wear an acid-proof suit, full face respirator, rubber gloves, and boots. The average daytime temperature on-site is often above 30C.
Because of this, it was essential for the team to take regular breaks, keep their core body temperature in an optimal range, and continually hydrate.
Vertech inspectors always remained vigilant and on the lookout for potential hazards despite working in cumbersome protection equipment and such harsh conditions. A section of floor grating had been oxy-cut to facilitate the replacement of a section of pipe.
Unfortunately, this was not repaired, leaving a potential hazard at an elevated height.
The Vertech team immediately alerted the client and were praised for their efforts in helping to keep the Refinery a safe workplace.
Yet another fine example of Vertech’s culture that holds safety at its core.
